Spratley's would like to thank all of their customers and friends who turned up for coffee and cake at their Macmillan Coffee on Friday 24 September 2010. Through the generosity of all associated with the event we raised £1015.29 for Macmillan Cancer Research!

June 2010 Tadley Treacle Fair and Mortimer St Mary's Summer Fair

June was another busy month. We constructed our trademark Spratley's of Mortimer "beach" at the Tadley Treacle Fair; this was another sandy success and meant that children (and parents!) could enjoy the free entertainment, courtesy of Spratley's. The organisers of the Fair were very grateful to have this unusal amenity and have invited us back in 2011!

Spratley's were also fortunate to be invited to attend the annual Mortimer St Mary's Summer Fair. Equipped with a super blue Vauxhall Tigra, champagne (for the free prize draw), helium and balloons galore, we spent a lovely few hours selling balloon race tickets (with all proceeds being donated to Mortimer St Mary's PTA).
The winning balloon was sent by Mrs M. Munson of Mortimer. Her balloon travelled a distance of 41.16 miles (as the crow flies) and was found in the back garden of a house in Gosport, Hampshire just 100 yards from the Solent! We presented Mrs Munson with her £50 prize – and she has told us that she will be donating her winnings to the Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Trust, a very worth cause indeed.

Local Scouts - At the Scene of the Grime! - Spratley's Charity Car Wash - Saturday 1 May 2010

The Burghfield and Sulhamstead Scouts transformed the Spratley's of Mortimer Forecourt into a car wash/café on Saturday May 1; they washed cars and served hot drinks, cakes and
bacon sandwiches while the customers waited for their vehicles to be foamed,
scrubbed and cleared of any volcanic ash deposits.

In just a few hours, they managed to raise an amazing £300; that’s a lot of cars (at £5 per car)… The event was very well supported by the local
residents, including the local constabulary who were only to happy for their patrol car to be cleaned.
Spratley’s also helped to drum up business for the
scouts by inviting their all their customers along to the event who came from
far and wide to support the scouts (upon hearing of the event - one former
Mortimer resident and Spratley’s customer came all the way from Church
Crookham just to have his car washed!) “When I heard about the car wash, I
decided that I would come back to my roots to support the local scouts – and I
am pleased to say, they did a good job too!”)

Speaking about the event Paul Spratley, a Director at Spratley’s said
“Spratley's has been an intrinsic part of the local community since 1908 and
over the years we have built up close links with a number of local charities
and organisations. One such organisation is our local scout group, and, when
they asked for our assistance in running a charity car wash to help them raise
money for their trip - we were delighted to help. I am pleased that it
was a success for them, and have already been asked by some of our
customers if this is likely to be a regular event!”
Spratley's of Mortimer would like to thank all of their customers who came to support the event.

The January 2010 Snow at Spratley's!

The dedicated staff at Spratley's of Mortimer soldiered on despite record snow falls in January.

Spratley's offer of WinterCare car checks for £39.99 inc VAT proved very popular!

Santa Cruise 2009!

Spratley's of Mortimer were, once again, delighted to sponsor a Santa in the 2009 Santa Cruise! The Santa Cruise comprise a lovely group of people who kindly give up a Saturday in December to raise money for very worthwhile charities. The Santas cruise the streets of Mortimer and Burghfield and beyond on their cycles, rattling their collecting tins. As in the previous year, all monies collected were donated to the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance. A very worthy cause! Well done Santas!

Here are Paul and Rachel Spratley (4th and 5th generations of the Spratley family) with the Santas outside the showroom at Spratley's of Mortimer.

Swallowfield Show August 2009!

Spratley's of Mortimer enjoyed a very successful August Bank Holiday weekend at the 2009 Swallowfield Show.

Spratley's held a charity balloon race at the show. The balloons were launched spectacularly from the main arena from a Spratley's sexy silver topless Astra!
The winning balloon (purchased by a young lady called Hannah) reached, Belgium! Amazing! Hannah (pictured with her Mum) was later presented with £100 first prize by Julie Spratley, at Spratley's showroom in Mortimer, near Reading.
Spratley's also added to the bank holiday atmosphere at the Swallowfield Show by displaying their high quality used vehicles on a "beach!" Spratley's beach (complete with buckets and spades) provided very popular (and free!)entertainment for the children.
